Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on the party’s leaders and stakeholders in Anambra to unite and strive for the party’s victory in the upcoming 2025 governorship election in the state, commonly referred to as Anambra2025. During the inauguration of the Anambra Consultative Council held in Abuja on Wednesday, Ganduje emphasized the importance of this election, not just for the state but for the political landscape of the entire South East region.
Ganduje highlighted the need for the South East to be more involved in national politics, stressing that the region can no longer afford to stay on the sidelines. He pointed out that Anambra is one of the most strategic states in Nigeria and that it is crucial for the APC to gain control from the current opposition parties, including the All Progressives Grand Alliance-led government under Governor Charles Soludo.
In his address, Ganduje expressed his belief that this meeting was a vital step for the Anambra APC to reorganize and unite its members in preparation for the Anambra2025 election. He emphasized the strategic importance of Anambra in the South East and Nigeria as a whole, making it imperative for the state to align with the central government.
Ganduje stated, “I am confident that the individuals gathered here today possess the capacity and capability to secure an APC victory in the upcoming election. Success can only be achieved if critical stakeholders like you come together in unity. Just as the broom in our party’s logo symbolizes strength in unity, a united body is unbeatable.”
He assured the stakeholders of the national headquarters’ support, extending a hand of fellowship and promising backing for the party in Anambra as they head into the 2025 gubernatorial election. Ganduje underscored the significance of this election for both the party and the federal government, emphasizing that Anambra deserves to be at the forefront of Nigeria’s political scene.
Chief Basil Ejidike, the Chairman of Anambra APC, echoed Ganduje’s sentiments. He urged the newly inaugurated members of the Anambra Consultative Council to meet the high expectations set for them and to validate the trust the party has placed in them. Ejidike noted that the council is composed of distinguished elders and leaders with extensive knowledge and experience in politics and governance.
Ejidike stated, “Forming this council is a strategic move to promote unity, bonding, and mutual understanding, which are essential for the overall success of the APC. The party aims to leverage the wealth of experience of its members. I urge you to develop strategies that will enable us to collectively tackle the challenging task of securing the governorship in Anambra2025.”
He expressed confidence that the council’s composition and membership position the party well to achieve its goal, suggesting that securing the government seat in 2025 for the APC is virtually assured. Ejidike urged the council members not to betray the confidence the party has placed in them, encouraging them to work diligently to propel the party toward progress and close the governance gap in Anambra State.
The event also saw the attendance of notable figures including Chief Emma Eneukwu, the National Deputy Chairman (South); Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu, the National Vice Chairman (South East); Uju Kennedy-Ohaneye, the Minister of Women Affairs; and Nze Chidi Duru, the Deputy National Organising Secretary of the APC. Their presence underscored the importance of the Anambra2025 project to the party’s broader strategy and ambitions.
The APC’s leadership has set its sights firmly on Anambra2025, viewing it as a critical juncture for the party and the region. The call for unity and strategic action reflects the high stakes involved, with the goal of ensuring that Anambra plays a central role in Nigeria’s political future. The collaborative efforts of the party’s national and local leaders signal a concerted push to make significant inroads in the South East, starting with a pivotal victory in Anambra.
