Stanley Okoruwa, a blogger residing in Lagos, has recently found himself at the center of a public apology following his involvement in a controversy surrounding popular businessman Emeka Okonkwo, famously known as E-Money, and Jennifer Awele, the spouse of the late actor Junior Pope.
The stir began when E-Money initiated a search for individuals, including two women and one man, who allegedly claimed to have had an intimate relationship with Jennifer Awele.
Subsequently, the Lagos State Police Command apprehended the blogger after E-Money lodged a complaint regarding a contentious video posted online.
In an unexpected turn of events, Okoruwa retracted his earlier statements and expressed remorse for his actions, acknowledging that his accusations were baseless and motivated solely by a desire to gain followers on his Facebook page.
“I created the video with the intention of increasing my online presence; I harbored no ill will toward E-Money,” he admitted.
“I had not anticipated the video gaining widespread attention. It was wrong of me to produce such content, and I had not foreseen the repercussions it would entail.
“The content of the video is entirely fabricated; I merely sought to capitalize on its popularity in the hopes of meeting E-Money.
“… I sincerely apologize to E-Money. My intention was never to besmirch his reputation. Every aspect of the video is untrue. Through this platform, I humbly seek E-Money’s forgiveness and pledge not to repeat such missteps in the future.”
The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, affirmed that the blogger would face legal consequences for his alleged defamation of E-Money through his online video.
“He will be prosecuted for engaging in criminal activities. His actions amounted to defamation against E-Money, and he will face the appropriate legal measures,” Hundeyin emphasized, noting that E-Money had adhered to proper protocol by reporting the incident to the authorities.
