President’s Wife To Disburse N1.8bn Empowerment Grant

Empowerment Grant to Benefit 37,000 Women Nationwide

The Renewed Hope Initiative, led by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will provide an empowerment grant to no fewer than 37,000 women across Nigeria. This substantial initiative is part of the broader economic empowerment program aimed at supporting female entrepreneurs and petty traders throughout the country.

Senator Tinubu announced the grant during a recent event in Benue State, where she was represented by Mrs. Nana Shettima, the wife of the Vice President. The event also featured the symbolic distribution of food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) with disabilities and other vulnerable groups. The empowerment grant will see 1,000 women from each state and the Federal Capital Territory receive a N50,000 grant designed to help them boost their small businesses.

In her announcement, Senator Tinubu expressed her pleasure in sharing that the governing council of the Renewed Hope Initiative had approved this significant empowerment grant. She emphasized that this initiative is not only about providing financial assistance but also about revitalizing the economic opportunities available to women, particularly those engaged in petty trading. This grant is part of a larger effort to enhance economic stability and support for women across Nigeria.

The grant program is set to launch on August 22nd, with simultaneous rollouts across all states and the Federal Capital Territory. Senator Tinubu highlighted that this empowerment program aligns with President Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind, especially in efforts to improve food security and sufficiency in the country.

In addition to the financial grant, the program includes a donation of assorted food items. These items will be distributed to the target groups, helping to provide immediate relief to those in need. Senator Tinubu urged the beneficiaries to make the most of the grant and the food items to improve their livelihoods and business prospects.

Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, who was represented by his deputy, Sam Ode, praised the president’s wife for her significant support to the women of Benue, particularly those living with disabilities and other vulnerable individuals. Governor Alia emphasized his administration’s commitment to complementing the efforts of Senator Tinubu by ensuring the effective distribution of the food items to the most needy within the state.

He also acknowledged the President’s role as a supportive leader and friend of Benue State, highlighting the positive impact of the Renewed Hope Initiative. Vice President Kashim Shettima was also recognized for his continued support, which has greatly benefited the state and its residents.

Overall, the Renewed Hope Initiative’s empowerment grant represents a major step forward in addressing economic disparities and supporting the entrepreneurial spirit among women in Nigeria. Through this comprehensive program, the initiative aims to create lasting positive changes and foster greater economic independence for thousands of women across the nation.
